Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the group reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to Timmony in search of the traitor.
